MEN'S CLUB

The Lady’s President Edith Cranwell Prize for men was played on  Sunday, Club house convenor Colm Campbell had a super round of golf in

difficult weather conditions and was the easy winner with a terrific score 67. Good to see Diarmuid McGettigan who was having a quiet

season come back to top form again and with a score of 70 finished in second place. Peter McDonald one of the early morning starters with

a very solid score of 71 took third prize. William Johnston also recorded a score of 71 lon a break of tie to take fourth place. The gross winner

with a score of 77 was Aidan Faulkner

The Minor League team have a battle on their hands to progress to the final stage of their competition after suffering a heavy defeat away

to Buncrana Municipal at the weekend. They came away with only half a point on a tight 9 hole irons only course and had to survive when

one of their players had to withdraw midway during the competition due to illness. The team are however determined to put up a strong

battle in the return leg at home in a few weeks time.

Members are asked to support a Mixed Scotch Foursomes in Aid of the Solace Centre organised by the The Club's President's on next Friday.

LADIES CLUB:

The fickle July weather looked kindly on us and granted us a fine and breezy day on Saturday last when Mrs Audrey Johnston held her Captain’s

Day..Audrey requested a donation to her charity –Breast Cancer Research-in lieu of cards etc.

The day was highly enjoyable with the good weather a welcome bonus  and after a sumptuous buffet laid on by our resident caterers Greg and Irene

,Lady President Edith Cranwell  introduced the Lady Captain  who in her delightful and witty speech thanked  her Committee and Officers, those who

train beginners,John “the greens” and staff  ,   the office staff and Grainne, paying special compliments to the dashing Men’s Captain Larry Walsh.

Afterwards the winners were presented with their prizes  and in their speeches complimented Audrey on her interesting and tasteful array of prizes,

and remarked that Audrey has many hidden talents which she uses unsparingly, notably her green-fingered ability which she utilises  to provide the

club with an amazing array of home-grown plants and flowers from her own garden  throughout the year, and complimented her on how she does

her work in an unassuming ,unfussy and highly capable way.

Winner on the day ,tying with Crona O’Reilly,on the only under –par score of 72,was 16 handicapper Ruby Trimble .Well done both!
