Mini Open Week 2018: Day 3 sponsored by C&C Gleeson
Day 3 of our 2018 Mini Open was sponsored by C&C Gleesons and it was a real mixed bag in terms of weather conditions with periods of glorious sunshine and blue skies followed quickly by heavy rain showers. Mini Open Week 2018: Day 2
Day 2 of Mini Open Week saw high winds and scattered showers hit the links but it didn't put off too many golfers as they set about navigating their way through the tough conditions. Not satisfied with getting the runners up spot the day before, Joseph "JT" Timoney made sure he was going to take top spot yesterday by shooting an impressive 38pts, despite losing 2 shots from his handicap from Wednesday. Runner up was John Meehan with a very good score of 35pts playing off 7 with Robbie Donovan a further shot back in 3rd place. Martin Cassidy was the winner of the Gross prize on the day with a hard fought 27 gross points in difficult conditions. For the 2nd day in a row it was a visitor who won the Ladies prize with Jennifer Flanagan from City of Derry taking top spot. Well done to all the Prize Winners.
Mini Open Week 2018: Day 1 sponsored by AIB
Our Mini Open Week for 2018 kicked off here yesterday in Murvagh, with the rain clearing just in time for the first golfers to tee off at 8am. In what turned out to be perfect conditions on the day for the AIB Donegal sponsored competition, it was a prize list very much dominated by locals with Alan O'Keeffe returning a fantastic score of 44pts off 11 to take top spot. With 43pts, Joseph "JT" Timoney would have thought he had won as would Kieran McElroy who shot 42pts on the day but with the conditions as good as they were, Big scores were needed. Billy Madden took the Gross playing off 7 with 32 gross points. Not to let the locals have it all our own way here, Mary Shorten, all the way up from Cork, made sure at least one prize left Murvagh on Wednesday by winning the Ladies Competition. With Saturday fully booked, we've added an extra Open Competition this Monday, 27th August. Contact the club today on +353 749734054 to book a tee time!
